AI Morning Report

The AI Morning Report is an AI-generated summary of your baby’s previous night of sleep. It goes beyond the standard sleep summary by providing context, patterns, and plain-language suggestions — as if a knowledgeable friend were reading the data for you.

How is it different from the regular Morning Report?

The regular Morning Report gives you the numbers: total sleep, wakings, longest stretch, and a brief, fixed insight. The AI Morning Report takes those same numbers, adds 6-day trends for each metric, and explains them across four sections:

  • Summary — overall tone and sleep score rationale
  • What Stood Out Most — the 1–3 biggest deviations from your baby’s baseline
  • Keep an Eye On — smaller or emerging patterns worth watching
  • Ideas to Try — 1–2 gentle suggestions tied to what the AI flagged

The layout is designed to be easy to scan, so you can get the key takeaways quickly.

What does “AI” mean here?

Owlet uses a large language model (LLM) — the same type of technology behind popular AI assistants — to turn your baby’s sleep metrics into a readable, personalized summary each morning.

Consent & First-Time Setup

  • Why am I being asked for consent before reading my report?
    • Because the AI Morning Report uses AI to generate your summary, Owlet wants to make sure you understand how it works and what it can and can’t do before you agree. The consent covers how your baby’s sleep data is used and the limitations of AI-generated content.

  • Do I have to accept consent every time?
    • No — just once. After that, your report sections will generate automatically each morning, typically within an hour after your preset night window ends (7 AM local time by default).

  • What happens if I don’t accept?
    • You’ll still have access to the standard Morning Report summary. The AI-generated sections — What Stood Out Most, Keep an Eye On, and Ideas to Try — will remain hidden behind the consent prompt. No data is sent to the AI until you consent.

  • How do I revoke my consent?
    • Go to Settings in the Owlet Dream app, tap Privacy & Data, and toggle off AI-Powered Insights. Once turned off, your data will no longer be sent to the AI. Previously generated reports will stay in your app for up to 90 days. You can toggle back on at any time.

Privacy & Your Baby’s Data

  • Does the AI know my baby’s name?
    • No. Your baby’s name is never shared with the AI. The report is generated using only anonymized sleep metric data.

  • Does the AI remember previous nights or build a profile over time?
    • No. Each report is generated fresh with no memory of prior nights. The AI receives only last night’s data plus a 6-day trend signal. Nothing carries over between sessions.

  • Is my baby’s health data being sent to a third party?
    • A limited set of sleep metrics (not vitals) is sent to the AI model to generate the report. Pulse rate and oxygen data are never included. No personally identifying information — including your baby’s name or your account details — is sent. Please review Owlet’s Privacy Policy for full details.

Report Availability & Load Times

  • Why is my report taking a moment to load?
    • The first time you open the AI sections (or if you check the app shortly after your night window ends), the report generates in real time — which can take up to 20 seconds. After that, it’s cached and loads instantly for the rest of the morning.

  • Sometimes it loads instantly, sometimes it takes a while — why?
    • Most mornings your report is pre-generated before you wake up. Occasionally, if you open the app right after your night window closes and before batch processing is complete, the report generates on the spot. This is normal and not an error.

  • Is the 20-second wait a problem?
    • No — it just means the AI is generating your report in real time. It shouldn’t happen every morning. If you’re consistently waiting every day, please reach out to support.

The AI-Powered Insights Setting

  • Where do I find the AI-Powered Insights setting?
    • Go to Settings in the Owlet Dream app, then tap Privacy & Data. You’ll see the AI-Powered Insights toggle there.

  • What happens if I turn it off?
    • The AI-generated sections of your Morning Report will be hidden. You’ll still see the standard summary (a short, rules-based overview of key sleep metrics) and all your sleep data. All other Owlet360 features remain available.

  • Can I turn it back on after turning it off?
    • Yes, at any time. Return to Settings and toggle AI-Powered Insights back on. You’ll be asked to re-accept the consent form before the AI sections become active again.

Report Content & Accuracy

  • The report doesn’t mention my baby’s name — is it really personalized?
    • Yes. The AI personalizes the report using your baby’s actual sleep metrics and their personal 6-day baseline — so what gets flagged as notable is specific to your baby’s patterns, not a generic template.

  • The report mentioned something that seemed off — can I trust it?
    • The AI Morning Report is an informational tool based on sleep data. It’s designed to surface patterns and offer context, not to provide medical advice. If something concerns you medically, please consult your pediatrician. The report will never suggest a diagnosis or recommend a specific medical action.

  • Why doesn’t the report mention oxygen levels or heart rate?
    • The Morning Report covers sleep metrics only — duration, wakings, sleep phases, and so on. Vitals like oxygen saturation and pulse rate are available in the Owlet360 vitals charts and live-session view, and are intentionally kept separate from the AI report.

  • Sometimes the report feels a bit generic. Why?
    • When your baby’s sleep is close to their normal baseline, the report will naturally be less eventful. That’s actually a good sign — it means the AI didn’t find anything notable to flag. If you feel the report made an error, use the thumbs-down icon to send feedback. Thumbs-up feedback is also always appreciated!
