Pair and Unpair Sock Sensor

This troubleshooting guide will walk you through the steps to successfully pair and unpair your sensor, while also addressing common issues you might encounter during the process. Pairing is required when the Owlet Sock light at the bottom of the base is off.

Pairing a replacement sensor? Be sure to follow the unpairing steps below first to ensure the base station is properly prepared.

Pairing a Sensor

Sensor pairing is needed when the Sock light underneath the Base Station is off.  Follow the steps in this troubleshooting guide to successfully pair your Owlet Sock Sensor. Note: If you are pairing a replacement Sensor, check out our Unpairing steps below first to make sure the Base Station is ready.

  • Place the Owlet Sock Sensor in the Base Station charging port.

  • The light on the Base Station transitions from bouncing white to solid white once the Owlet Sock Sensor has paired.
  • When the sensor is removed from the base station - the sensor light is lit indicating the sensor has a charge (As shown below).
    • Please Note:  The sensor only has 1 light. Please leave the sensor on the base station for a minimum of 20 minutes to allow it to charge.

  • If successful, the Sock light on the bottom of the Base Station will be illuminated. When the paired Sensor is removed from the Base Station, the Base Station light bounces green.
  • If the Sock light on the bottom of the Base Station is not illuminated or if there is a Blue Prompt, the Owlet Sock Sensor has not successfully paired, follow the pairing steps in this guide again. Please ensure the charging port is clean and the Owlet Sock Sensor is inserted evenly. The fabric sock can be removed from the Owlet Sock Sensor as needed to ensure proper contact with the Base Station charging port.
    • For Dream + Health (including Dream Sock International), the Base Station will provide a Yellow Disconnection Notification if the Owlet Sock Sensor has not paired.
    • For Smart Sock 3, the Base Station will provide a Blue Notification if the Owlet Sock Sensor has not paired.

Unpair a Sensor

Follow the steps in this troubleshooting guide to successfully unpair your Owlet Sock Sensor. Please Note: The following steps need to be performed in quick succession to be successful. We also recommend holding the Base Station for quick and easy access to the button on the bottom of the Base Station using your thumb.

  1. Unplug the Base Station and remove the Owlet Sock Sensor from the base.
  2. Press and hold the Base Station button while you plug the Base Station back in. Keep pressing the button until you hear the Base Station chirp 4 times. The light ring will change to blinking orange.
    • Release pressure after the chirp is heard. Please Note: There may be a quick chirp when plugging the base station in and should be ignored.
  3. Quickly press the  Base Station button twice (2). The Base Station will chirp twice (2) in return.
    • It is important to click the button while the Base Station ring is blinking orange, otherwise, the Owlet Sock Sensor will not properly unpair.
    • The steps are the same for Smart Sock 3 and Dream Sock (including Dream Sock International)

If successful, the Sock light on the bottom of the Base Station will not be illuminated and the Owlet Sock Sensor will not turn off. The Base Station will bounce white briefly before the Blue disconnection prompt sounds.

  • For Dream Sock with Health Notifications enabled (including Dream Sock International), the Base Station will provide a Yellow Disconnection Notification if the sensor is successfully unpaired.
  • For Smart Sock 3 and Dream Sock without Health Notifications (USA and Canada), the Base Station will provide a Blue Notification if the sensor is successfully unpaired.
