Dream with Health Notifications: Understanding the App

The Owlet Dream App Home Screen shows the live status of your baby’s monitoring session.  Click below to view additional information regarding the following Home Page options:

Child Selector Icon

At the top of the home page, you will see the child profile you are currently viewing.

If you have more than one child profile, you will see each profile picture icon and can access its child’s profile by clicking on their photo.

Live Sleep Status Card

The live sleep status gives you information about your child’s sleep session, or when their next predictive sleep window will be.

Evaluating sleep status is shown when the Sock and Sensor are attempting to get readings from the Sensor to evaluate your child’s sleep status. Right below is Session length, which is the length of time elapsed that your child has been wearing their sock.

When your child falls asleep, you will have a live status of which state of sleep your child is currently in, either awake, deep sleep, or light sleep.

If your child has woken up and has been awake for more than 2 minutes, the status will let you know how long they have been awake.

If you have been tracking your child’s sleep and are not currently in a sock session, this status will let you know when your child’s next Predictive Sleep window is.

If you’re currently monitoring your child in a Sock session and receive a notification, the status and reason will show in this status bar.

Owlet Cam View Card

If you have an Owlet Cam, this is where you will find your live camera feed.

Live Health Readings Card

If Health Notifications are disabled, live health readings are also disabled. The card will show Health Notifications are OFF. You can enable them by clicking on Settings or navigating to device settings.

If Health Notifications are enabled this card will show the status of your device and show live health readings. If you are not currently in a sock session, you will see “Start a monitoring session.”

If you are currently monitoring your child and the Sensor is getting good readings, you will see live health readings.

If you are currently monitoring your child and the Base Station is not connected to the Dream App, then you will see “Connecting to Base Station”.

If you are currently monitoring your child without Wi-Fi, then you will see “Connect to the Internet”. If your Base Station has a green light, you will still receive notifications from the Base Station.

If your child is moving excessively and the Sensor is unable to get good readings, you will see wiggling feet over the Live Health readings.

If you receive a red notification, Pulse Rate and/or Oxygen Saturation will appear red if your child has fallen out of the preset zones.

Sleep Session Card

The Owlet Dream Sock tracks your child’s sleep and wakings. The Sleep Session card is where you’ll find all the sleep information we capture from your baby’s live sleep session. A session will only appear on the home page when you are actively monitoring your baby. Once your session has ended, the sleep information can be found on the History Tab.

Our data science and sleep experts collaborated to accurately label our sleep data with different sleep states. The top of the sleep session card will display the Total Sleep in minutes for the current sleep session and the total number of wakings. It’s normal for children to wake up and fall back asleep during a sleep session.

The Sleep Session graph shows your child’s sleep states for the current sock session. You can scroll along the graph to see what stage of sleep your child was in and at what time. You can also see a breakdown of the total time for each stage of sleep.

Awake

Awake shows on the graph as a peach color. Awake is shown when our algorithms have determined that your child is awake.

Light Sleep

Light sleep shows on the graph as a light purple color. Restful or sleeping lightly is shown when our algorithms have determined that your child is in a light sleep. Light sleep is also known as active sleep or REM sleep (rolling eye movement sleep). Sometimes light sleep (REM sleep) can look like wake, including moving, crying, talking and even having their eyes open. The Dream Sock may have difficulty determining light sleep from awake during these moments of light sleep movement.

Light sleep is the restorative sleep your child needs to help their brain and body grow and develop. When your child is first born, their sleep is about 50% light sleep (REM sleep) but as they grow and develop their sleep, eventually they will only have 30% light sleep (REM sleep) like adults. The Dream Sock allows you to watch their sleep patterns change as they grow and develop.

Deep Sleep

Deep Sleep on the graph shows as a gray color. Deep sleep is shown when our algorithms have determined that your child is in a deep sleep. Deep sleep is the sleep state that your child is least likely to wake up from. Deep sleep is also known as NREM (non-rolling eye movement) sleep. If you need to lay your child down to sleep or sneak into their room, deep sleep is your best chance of avoiding waking them.

As your child grows and develops, you will see more and more deep sleep on their graph. Eventually, deep sleep will account for 70% of their sleep. When your child is older, deep sleep can be recognized and broken down into three sleep stages, Stage 1, Stage 2, and Stage 3. As a baby, the three stages are recognized as NREM (non-rolling eye movement) sleep.

Cam Room Comfort Card

If you have an Owlet Cam, this is where you will find your Room Temp, Humidity, and Noise Levels giving you a full view of your child’s sleep environment.

Your child’s sleep environment can impact how well they will sleep. You can set the limits for your Cam’s temperature and humidity in Cam settings to be notified if the room has fallen outside of those limits. You will receive a push notification and an in-app notification letting you know to go check on your child’s sleep environment.

You will see a live status of your child’s sleep environment at the top, letting you know if their room is comfortable or uncomfortable.

Room is comfortable

The room temperature and humidity are within the limits specified in the Cam settings.

Room is uncomfortable

The room temperature and humidity are outside the limits specified in the Cam settings.

The temperature and humidity sensor is on the outlet plug end of the Cam cable. If you find the values to be different than you believe, check the placement of the sensor. If it is near a window, above an air duct vent, or even behind furniture, you may find the sensor reads differently than the room's actual temperature.
