Streaming Error: Spinning Circles with Connecting or Loading

Error messages may be displayed above the Cam Audio and Wi-Fi information. Sock users will need to scroll down a little farther to see this information. 

 

Spinning Circle with “Connecting…”

  1. Check if the Cam is plugged into the wall and has power. The status light will indicate this if it has been enabled in the Owlet app. If status lights are disabled, unplug the cam and plug it back in. A red light will be seen once the Cam is plugged back in.  
  2. Force-close the Owlet app and relaunch. 
  3. What color is the status light?
    1. Blinking Blue: 
      *Cam searching for Wi-Fi.
      *Wi-Fi isn’t broadcasting.
    2. Solid Blue/Purple:
      *Connected, try viewing stream
      *Force-close the Owlet app and relaunch.
    3. Solid Red:
      *Force-close the Owlet app on all signed-in devices, wait for the Status Light to turn blue, and relaunch.
      **If it takes more than 3 minutes for the light to turn blue, unplug the Cam, wait 30 seconds and plug it back in. Once the light is blue, you can reopen the app.

 

Spinning Circle with “Loading…”

  1. Force-close the Owlet app and relaunch. 
  2. Please check your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network is broadcasting a wireless signal with the internet.
    1. Connect your mobile device to the 2.4GHz band. 
  3. Do a speedtest on your mobile device web browser.
    1. Download Mbps must be greater than 2.0
      1. The Cam needs 2.0 Mbps of dedicated resources to function efficiently. This cannot be shared with other devices. Take that into account. 
    2. Upload Mbps must be greater than 2.0

  4. Ensure that the latest version of the Owlet is being used.
    1. Open your Google Play/App Store to check for updates.
    2. We recommend having automatic updates enabled in your mobile device's settings.  
  5. Make sure your Cam's firmware is updated.
    1. An orange bar will be visible on the apps main view if there is an update available. 
    2. If Wi-Fi is disconnected, this firmware version might not be accurate. especially right after an update.
  6. What color is the status light?
