How do I connect the Owlet Base Station to a Wi-Fi network?

****Important Note****
WiFi setup will vary depending on if you're using an Iphone, an Android phone, or a computer to connect your Owlet to your home network. Make sure you follow the instructions specific to your device.



To add a new WiFi network to your base station's memory without deleting a previously set up WiFi network, plug the base station in at the new location and then enter the mobile application. In the app, go to Settings>Account>Add WiFi

This will put the app into WiFi setup mode and you'll be able to add this new network to your base station's memory. Your Base Station can remember up to 10 different WiFi networks and will connect automatically when you plug it in within that network.

To delete your Base Station's WiFi memory and start over, first plug the Base Station in, turn it over and press the large and small buttons on the bottom of the base station at the same time for around 6-7 seconds until the unit chirps and the Wifi connection indicator light (small green on bottom of base station) turns off.

This resets the wifi credentials, and the Base Station will begin to broadcast the Owlet WiFi network for setup.

 

Setting up WiFi for the Owlet with an Iphone or Ipad

Plug in the Owlet Base Station to the wall and then plug the Smart Sock into the Base Station, when plugged in the Base Station will broadcast a WiFi network for setup.
Enter the settings on your IOS device

 


 


Select Wi-Fi Settings.

 


 

 


Select the Owlet "network" (which name may differ slightly than viewed below).

 


 


This will jump you to this screen:

 


 


Once connected, the app will search for compatible home networks to connect the Base Station to. 
You should select your home network from this list and then put in the password.

 


 

After entering the password tap "Join".

 



This should successfully connect your Base Station to your home network.  To verify it was successful, flip the Base Station over and look for the WiFi indicator light. You may have to dim the main Base Station light to see this. Once successfully connected to your home network, the Base Station will no longer broadcast a WiFi network.

Setting up WiFi for the Owlet with an Android Phone

To set up WiFi for the Owlet when using Android, first plug the Base Station into the wall and the Smart Sock into the Base Station. Once plugged in, the base station will begin broadcasting a WiFi network for setup.

The mobile application for Android does not require you to leave the app to connect to the Owlet Base Station. During the setup steps of the app, it will search for the Owlet and find the network the Base Station is broadcasting and then give you the option to connect to it.

 

 

Once connected, the app will search for compatible home networks to connect the Base Station to. 
You should select your home network from this list and then put in the password.

This should successfully connect your Base Station to your home network.  To verify it was successful, flip the Base Station over and look for the WiFi indicator light. You may have to dim the main Base Station light to see this. Once successfully connected to your home network, the Base Station will no longer broadcast a WiFi network.

Setting up WiFi for the Owlet without an Apple or Android Device

If you don't have an Iphone/Ipad and you don't have an Android phone either, you'll still probably want to connect your Owlet to the WiFi. It is designed to work just fine without WiFi or a mobile app, but a WiFi connection will allow it to receive maintenance updates from the server so you always have the latest firmware and features. 

To do this, you'll need to use a computer.
